"I'm not good enough..."
"I can't do that"
"This is too hard"
"I'm not confident"
If you catch these words rolling off the tongue you might just want to cut it off. Your mouth can be your best friend or your worst nightmare. Far too often we get stuck in our situation and forget to zoom out, and we begin to utter these phrases, literally creating linguistic boundaries around our problems. We are literally creating our own prison. And do you know the scary thing about building walls? You inadvertently, almost innocently, trap yourself inside with the thing you are trying to keep out.
The words you choose to label your experience with something will shape your worldview and reality, so when you speak these limiting beliefs into existence, you limit your ability. Do you think that if you tell yourself something can't be done, that you will ever be capable of achieving that? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Be careful with your words my fellow Prosperitan. I am not saying go lie or shout affirmations in the mirror that "I'm a lion, I'm a lion, I'm a lion!" cause that's exactly what is going on. You are lion to yourself. And your unconscious brain doesn't like that as it knows it isn't true. The things we say alter our perception of reality to a degree I don't think we will ever fully comprehend as humans. The more you know the more you realize you don't know shit.
But when you start giving those insecurities and doubts about yourself a voice and platform to stand on, it is almost as if you are defending the idea taking power away from you. What are you, the P.R team for insecurity? It makes no sense. You must be careful letting your emotions get the best of you.
I want you to realize it is okay if you do not know everything, or you make a mistake on the sales call. You will get better. I sucked at insurance sales in the beginning. But I got better, and you can too. Sucking is a prerequisite for being great. You can safely expect to suck at anything new when you try it. Why would you be good at something you have never done before?
But even so, that is not an excuse to run away from something or confronting your fears head on. You will learn more from chewing on what you disagree with and trying new things, rather than never questioning your beliefs. The moment you think you know it all you are dead.
I want you to realize one important thing that has served me well in life. There is no such thing as failure, only feedback. You learn what works and what does not. Thomas Edison famously said "I didn't fail a thousand times, I just found a thousand ways it won't work," even though he ripped all of Tesla's work but that is besides the point of the quote.
It is okay for you to be bad or suck at something. Expand the way you think about time, and realize that if you put a certain number of inputs in, over time you will get better, and so will the output. But you must take action, there is no such thing as trying. When someone tells me they are going to try something, they are telling me in advance they can do the process OF NOT. Like you can do the process of not dialing. Do or do not do, there is no try- Yoda.
I want you to realize that these insecurities or limiting self beliefs will never serve you well in life. You must walk around with the belief that if others can do it, I can do it. Want to know an easy way to get rid of limiting beliefs? Do the thing you thought you couldn't do and watch where the belief goes.
Happy Hustling Prosperitan.
